if you ever come to jakarta to eat, one of the food you should try is "soto betawi" and Soto Betawi Bang Mamat is one of my favorite place to eat in muara karang area.
this place is considered to be one of the best local street food on the area, not only that their foods taste good but also the price is good for your pocket.
soto betawi bang mamat only open at night from 18.00 till it sold out, they first shop open on muara karang then they expanded their branch on food plaza, PIK ( pantai indah kapuk).
their second location inside the food plaza,PIK is more hygienic and comfortable place to eat.
but for me, i still prefer their first location at muara karang.
even though it located right by the busy street of muara karang with lots of flies and mosquitoes,but i think the taste of their soto is better here than the one in Food Plaza, PIK.
soto betawi is basically A beef soup served in yellow spicy coconut milk soup.
you could ask for any part of the beef beside the meats; intestines, tongue, knuckles or even brain.
as for me, i just stick with their meats.
one portion of meaty soup and rice cost me IDR 35.000, you can even ask for soup refill( only the soup base no meat).
don't forget to also try their Perkedel(IDR 5.000), its a fried mashed potato filled with bits of corned beef. dip it on the soup or just eat it dry, you name it.
some people mix lime juice, sweet soy sauce, chilly even salt on their soup.
if it your first time eating the soto, i do recommend you to eat the soto plain before adding anything else.
because i myself like the plain soto better.
